pentax me super battery

What’s the best camera costing over $2500? I have to admit I rather liked their colour games. Except I've tried the KP (and K70) with a variety of lenses, and downloaded many raws. Spent a happy hour or so configuring them (yes, I know, 'small things amuse small minds' etc.) Great design .. Just two reviews so far. How strange.Anyway, enough of this. We look at what the camera offers and who it might make sense for. :) :). The problem here isn't the camera, it's you. Here in the old US interchangeable grip manufacturers for firearms are doing quite well. 'too heavy for its size' -- This observation is completley backwards. I have to wonder why. @LightBug: I think Alfredo just killed your business idea. However, swinging a camera strap with a Pentax attached to the end of it can probably get me out of a lot of situations while traveling in dodgy areas in the world. Certainly not the best jpeg aps-c. Say, a distant quasar, or a shadow in the dark, or a curious animal photographed in the dusk, smuggler's operation, plant, or an unknown object. I'm just disappointed that they don't seem to want to invest in the AF area, which is a shame for such a well rounded crop camera. https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/03/16/pentax-kp-vs-nikon-d500-white-balance/, https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/01/28/pentax-kp-affordable-dslr-for-low-light/, http://thisistanaka.blog66.fc2.com/entry/1097/, https://breakfastographer.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/screen-shot-2017-02-11-at-19-48-59.png, https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr18=daylight&attr13_0=pentax_kp&attr13_1=pentax_k70&attr13_2=pentax_k1&attr13_3=pentax_k3ii&attr15_0=raw&attr15_1=raw&attr15_2=raw&attr15_3=raw&attr16_0=6400&attr16_1=6400&attr16_2=6400&attr16_3=6400&attr126_0=normal&attr126_1=normal&attr126_2=normal&attr126_3=normal&attr171_0=off&attr171_1=off&attr171_2=off&attr171_3=off&normalization=compare&widget=490&x=-0.05367003106422209&y=-1.1042471042471045, Compact and feature-packed: Our Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III review, Canon EOS M6 Mark II review: Our favorite Canon mirrorless camera yet, Fujifilm X-Pro3 review: living in the moment, not a screen in sight, Ricoh is developing a flagship APS-C DSLR set to be released in 2020, Adobe Lightroom CC 2015.10 and ACR 9.10 now available, Fujifilm X-E4 pre-production sample gallery, Tamron 17-70 F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD field review. Good travel cameras should be small, versatile, and offer good image quality. I wonder about the prices of the K3II ( published in the chart ) is several hundreds less at Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/Pentax-K-3II-DSLR-Body-Only/dp/B00WBIYADC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490820145&sr=8-1&keywords=Pentax+K-3+II. I don't care about ISO 800000 but I do care that ISO 12800 to 51200 is al lot more usable than on the K-5. I ask this because I have no clue about those figures for my cameras. It seems like this is a camera everybody WANTS to love. I'm not convinced XT-2 has any better AF than Pentax from the samples I have seen, though I can be wrong there. I would absolutely always use the biggest one [interchangeable grip, I presumed], and really would like an even bigger one [still thinking about the interchangeable grip..] for a deeper finger grip.". The image quality is a bit disappointing for me. something is either unique or not. $32 USD), The meter works, the cosmetics are a little rough, on occasion its given me old camera issues like the shutter not wanting to trigger, however the last I checked it was working fine, I can't sell it for top dollar as there could be issues but for the moment (as of June 24th 2020) it works perfectly fine. Souch complains write only people who are jealous because no other brand offers so many diferent options in the same model. Tell us your benchmarking method. The camera will be big and clumsy and expensive. That button makes switching the camera off a two-handed faff. It's a pity, since they have a nice crop line-up and have been peerless in terms of features since K10D. As for changing the battery at what you're "sure will be very inconvenient times," well, that will only happen if you're too dim to pay attention to the battery indicator. Vintage Pentax, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Leica, Mamiya & more. You tested Autofocus using a slow focusing lens. 2/3 stop better. It's a bit laughable that after so many years in the DSLR market not even the K3/II or K1 benefit from a C-AF comparable to an entry-level Nikon. The KP's Electronic Liveview shooting made "Manual" mode shooting a pleasure which allows seeing live exposure effects when used along with AF, the electronic (silent) shutter mode and focus peaking. Doing so, then the meager battery life would be solved.". That means other Pentax cameras. You can have the last word now. are more obvious than the difference in sensor performance. Sure I do MF and zone or anticipate, but every now and then I'd wish some 3D tracking that's functional. I love it!! And ... the KP's foremost property is compactness. It's up to each potential buyer to decide if they're enough, to balance them with reasons to choose the K-3 II over the KP. But it's impressive, agree. Personally I think that it looks great, almost as good as the K1. If big grip and DLI90 battery is a must for a user, and he doesnt care about tilting lcd, he may either wait for the expected new APS-C flagship or, meanwhile, buy a K3/K3-II which which shares lots of common parts and features with the new KP. Nema problema. Canadian developer Jacob Jackson has put his experience working with AI to interesting use with his new Same Energy search engine. It's not rocket science. That's just nuts!! real working ISO is 6400 without any dubts! When did 'too heavy for its size' become a legitimate point of criticism when evaluating photographic equipment? You then need two colored plastic bags, one for charged an one for flat. But anyway, as I said, I found usages on line, it seems it is Americanised (or should I say Americanized?) And built-in af motor by pentax is a far better and faster then from other cameras, then Pentax with old type lences can focus faster then (yes, yes!!!!!!!!!) I never disputed what the proper definition of unique should be, just that your view of it's usage was dated. Polaroid is now manufacturing instant film, again, and here's how you can make a negative from a print. It seems the K-3 II's replacement and a new GR are in advanced stages:http://thisistanaka.blog66.fc2.com/entry/1097/ (Japanese), Sorry, this was meant for the other article :-). The K-3 is the first DSLR to use its shake reduction … Stablemates. There you get 100 or so images per battery, and you need lots of them. dull green). @HowaboutRAW: You're dead wrong about the usable ISO:https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/02/11/pentax-kp-vs-k-70-high-iso-noise/, (It seems I'm destined to keep posting that link...). Anyway, I guess there's some kind of fashion to call every single Pentax camera "one of the worst looking cameras". Perhaps like alt facts and fake news we can put the misuse of the word unique down to the current trend of the ignorant to speak in a very loud voice about things of which they know little. Just like the D750 sensor. It is creditable for and APSc camera, but I can't help being more than a bit niggled by Pentax joining the Nikon bandwagon of posting preposterous high ISO settings, the dire results of which might be achieved by many similar cameras by pushing their output post capture well beyond what is wise. It is about convenience. But it certainly deserves to be among the top. This is more accurate and honest, relatively speaking. Who want more? I hate the T-90 inspired black "stealth" design everyone else uses! Nor do I like things which are incorrect going unchallenged. Then, there are two sensitivity options: 'Auto' or 'Tv'. It just cries for me to put some limiteds in the pocket and go out to the streets like years ago. I conclude then, that it is an Americanised word. It's not all roses with this camera. The difference in this picture is clear as day:https://breakfastographer.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/screen-shot-2017-02-11-at-19-48-59.png. Image quality, compactness with DA Limiteds, style. You are right about improved IQ. A Micro Four Thirds camera that uses the same AI photo trickery as smartphones to improve the way pictures look promises open-source access for custom applications and live streaming video direct through your phone. "...All changes would make it another camera. There's a whole thread on the forum about how much of a failure THAT review was. But yes it's the main compromise of this smaller form factor. If you want better battery life just go mirrorless! Not to my taste either, but some street shooters liked those color schemes which made them look more like a silly tourist rather than a serious photographer. BTW - how sure are you about that figures? some folk just have to believe they are right, irrespective of the evidence. Pentax please keep this design for the awaiting flagship APS-C. K7 k3 series are good but not attractive enough. I you want a cheap piece of plastic just get a rebel. Move to ISO 400, compare the same details, and this time you can see in low-left the D500 is still better but in up-right the KP has noticeable better detail. So i would argue that the lens on the D500 is sharper on the left side, while the one in KP is probably more even, or maybe the camera is just a little tiny bit miss-aligned, but there is no clear winner between the two. Every brand has its trade offs, life is too short to wait for things to happen. It's not analogous to saying 'very unique' at all, but rather to saying 'not unique'. The batteries being small, I do not take as a big advantage. A really versatile camera. I sure did misunderstand you but your most recent post sure shores up my comment that we would then have a different camera :^), I am smiling, trulyThis is fun but I have to go water the rain. Personally the KP is a square peg you are trying to fit into a round hole, it's in its own class when you really think about it. Andrei, if AF tracking is that important to you, go Canon or Nikon. We are all biased in a way or another, even by making judgement based on reviews and incomplete information ;-)My strongest bias is in not lying to you. Size is almost same ( K3 II - 131 x 100 x 77 mm vs KP 132 x 101 x 76 mm), battery life is worse, only one SD card slot, missing status screen and the same price as K-3 II when introduced. The only brand that's worse in Romania in this regard is Canon :). Yeah, dude we decided both de-dependable & in-dependable are ungood. Their investment shows a lot, judging by the results here. Goodnight Dheorl. My K-30 is smaller and ighter than this and I do not understand why this camera is being praised for its size and weight. On the other hand, we see a better control layout, higher ISO capabilities, and the new SR II system. Could the Sony a1's fast sensor bring us better picture quality as well as speed? Photograph is firstly — the information. :) The rendering of the colors is subjective (and is LR default profile anyway). K-70 is better than KP at high ISO - 3200, 6400. Undependable literally means 'not dependable', just like unreliable means 'not reliable', independent means 'not dependent', irrational means 'not rational', and so on. Aesthetically I find it very pleasing.Except I bought the K-1, so I'm migrating towards FF. Sony A99, Sony A7! I'm still looking for a spell checker that understands Aussie Slang. Sony, I think. :), I don't trust spell checkers. As I said, totally clueless regarding how long they last. The Brotherhood, of course, used real men cameras: the 67.And now the KP is considered heavy? If you like to tip me for the business idea, you're welcome to do so :). At 25600 he has less noise then my Canon 5D m3 and also when yo processing the files from it, there is no banding! Or you can opt for the off-grid hinterlands beyond the wall. _DSC6438-1 Sep2 flattened no stroke by Gloomy1, 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor with max ISO of 819,200, 27-point AF sensor with 25 central cross-type points, 86,000-pixel RGB metering sensor aids subject tracking and exposure, In-body 'SR II' 5-axis image stabilization, Electronic shutter up to 1/24,000 sec through the viewfinder. Well, the XT-2 did better than Pentax in the DPReview's tests; although I have my doubts regarding their (lack of) consistency, Fujifilm right now might very well have a better AF than Pentax. But I'd still recommend a D500 for action ;-). Please don't "fix" the K-3 in that regard. odpisan: I don't find Nikon/Canon DSLR's particularly beautiful either. To be a real man (or woman?) @badi - I think they are consistent. And honestly, at least in our country, they're not making more money because marketing and presence is non existent. https://us.ricoh-imaging.com/product/pentax-kp/. The Sony Alpha 1 is Sony's flagship mirrorless camera for, well, just about anything. And part of the improved noise reduction algorythms are now also applied in high ISO RAW files, like most mirrorless manufacturers (Fuji, Sony, M43) already do.The most skilled among us in post processing can still get a better output from a raw file, but the difference is not so large as it used to be in previous models like K5 or K3. It is therefore Unique, not very unique. While looks alone may not sell it for some, there are parts of the KP's design that are excellent, possibly even market leading. Robotics company MRMC has seen demand for its remote camera pods explode in the past 12 months, including at the recent presidential inauguration in the US. That is amusing. Yes, the screw drive AF noise is off putting, in many cases. Thank you very much, Hoya. but bigger files. Eh? General resolution is little less then from Canon, but its not a big problem. Finally i also tested Pentax KP in the field (asked for give me for testing to my friend for one day). The KP is such a cool camera, but DPR has a way of taking the fun out of mostly all DSLR style cameras. What's incorrect about "undependable"? And the highest cost is that the battery life is totally cr@p. Roland Karlsson....I don't know for sure the interchangeable grip idea will work, but I think it may be a great idea. 6400 is approx. Accessory Mount: Bowens S Mount, Configuration: Monolight Only Venus Optics has brought two of its existing ultra-wide-angle lenses and two macro lenses to L mount camera systems. Something to consider: Pentax has the cheapest flagships from all manufacturers. I know I am the minority, but I like the designs of most Olympus and Pentax cameras, including this one. Those considering the K-70 as an alternative may want to see this:https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/02/11/pentax-kp-vs-k-70-high-iso-noise/, Those considering the D500 as an alternative may want to see this:https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/03/16/pentax-kp-vs-nikon-d500-white-balance/, And if you're just looking for a quick overview, there's this:https://breakfastographer.wordpress.com/2017/01/28/pentax-kp-affordable-dslr-for-low-light/. If you really need help for that remaining 10%, a second body like D5500 is pretty affordable option. Obviously the Fuji has a different colour pattern. To better assess the capabilities of the system I think you should use that lens. I don't really care that Ricoh Pentax claimed ISO 800K for the KP, but it's way beyond the normal 2 or 3 stops beyond what is useful. I'd have to buy THREE of your overpriced batteries to get me thru 1 day of shooting... ", "...not to mention having to change batteries at what I'm sure will be very inconvenient times. :), RIDICULOUS battery life... come onnnnn Pentax! I would absolutely always use the biggest one, and really would like an even bigger one for a deeper finger grip. Adobe has announced the availability of Lightroom CC 2015.10 and Adobe Camera Raw 9.10, adding 22 new lens profiles to both applications, as well as new camera support and bug fixes.
